Islamic Religious Services for Incarcerated Muslims
A fundamental aspect of MCSVA's work is providing essential Islamic religious materials to Muslim inmates. Many inmates have limited resources and no means of acquiring the items necessary for proper Islamic worship and education.
Qur'ans and Islamic Texts
We distribute:
Copies of the Holy Qur'an (both in Arabic and with English translation)
Qur'anic study guides and tafseer (exegesis)
Hadith collections
Books on Islamic jurisprudence, history, and spirituality
Simplified Islamic educational materials for new Muslims
Prayer
Items
We provide essential items for daily worship:
Prayer rugs (sejadah)
Kufi caps for men
Appropriate head coverings for women
Prayer timetables adjusted for various locations in Virginia
Prayer beads (tasbih)
Educational Materials
To support ongoing Islamic education, we offer:
Arabic language learning materials
Islamic study workbooks
Lecture series on CDs (where permitted)
Educational newsletters and bulletins

How You Can Help Support Our Materials Distribution Program
The demand for Islamic religious materials far exceeds our current resources. You can help by:
Donating funds specifically for Qur'ans and prayer rugs
Organizing a religious materials drive at your mosque or Islamic center
Sponsoring a facility by providing a complete set of materials
Your donations allow us to purchase and ship these vital items, ensuring that no inmate is left without access to religious resources.
Distribution
Process
Our materials distribution follows a careful process in coordination with correctional facilities:
1. Assessment of needs at each facility
2. Coordination with prison administrators for approval
3. Distribution through chaplains and authorized volunteers
4. Follow-up to ensure materials are being used effectively
Our volunteers work closely with correctional facilities to deliver these materials securely and in compliance with prison policies. We also respond to individual inmate requests to meet specific religious needs.
